Pate de verre cam şekillendirme tekniğinin araştırma ve uygulamaları

Abstract

Günümüzden 3000 yıl önce, ilk olarak Mısırlılar tarafından kullanıldığı bilinen pate de verre tekniği, 19. yüzyılın sonlarında Fransız seramik sanatçısı Henri Cros tarafından yeniden gündeme getirilmiştir. Pate de verre tekniği, özellikle yeniden keşfedilme döneminde, farklı şekillerde tanımlanarak diğer cam şekillendirme teknikleriyle karıştırılmış fakat zaman içinde kendine özgü kimliğine ulaşmıştır. Cam parçacıklarının kalıp içine kontrollü bir şekilde yerleştirilmesi ve fırınlanması süreçleriyle oluşturulan bu teknik, cam malzemeyle çalışan sanatçılara, tasarımlarını uygulamada yeni olanaklar sunmaktadır. Birçok üretim aşamasından oluşan pate de verre tekniği ile bir obje oluşturabilmek, fırında cam şekillendirme yöntemleri ile ilgili teknik bilgilere sahip olmayı ve uzun bir atölye çalışmasını gerektirmektedir. Bu çalışmada, tarihsel süreç içinde cam, cam sanatı ve pate de verre yöntemi teorik olarak ele alınmış, kişisel uygulamalarla desteklenmiştir. Ayrıca bu alanda ürün vermiş-vermekte olan sanatçılardan örneklerle bir araya getirilen bu çalışmayla cam malzemeyle çalışmak isteyenlere faydalı olabilecek bir kaynak oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır. It is known that pate de verre technique was first used by ancient Egyptians 3000 years ago. French ceramic artist Henri Cros made this technique a current issue again at the end of 19th century. It was not comprehended especially in the period of revival that this technique was different from other glass castings, but during the time periods it has been realized and reached its unique style. The technique which is created by the process of placing carefully glass particles into the mould and firing, make new possibilities to artists who work with glass materials, for practicing their projects. Creating an object with pate de verre technique which consists of many processing steps, requires having know, how about methods of forming glass in fire and a long time workshop. In this article, the historical process of glass, glass art and pate de verre method has been theoretically examined and supported by my individual practices. Within the framework of the study, that has been compiled with the samples of the artists who produced and still producing in this area, it is also aimed at supplying a guide to the people who wants to work with glass material.
