İzmir İç Körfezi'nin aktif tektoniğinin jeofizik yöntemlerle araştırılması

Abstract

Miyosen öncesi hakim olan sıkışma tektoniği ile Miyosen sonrası hakim olan açılma tektoniğinin etkisi altında olan İzmir Körfezi İç, Orta ve Dış Körfez olmak üzere üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Bu tektonik hareketler etkisinde gelişen İzmir Körfezi'nin İç Körfez bölümü için aktif tektonizmanın ve güncel fayların belirlenebilmesine yardımcı olacak batimetri, yüksek ayrımlıklı sığ sismik ve yanal taramalı sonar çalışmaları yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmalar sonucunda; güneybatısında Seferihisar Yükselimi (Horst), güneydoğusunda Nifdağı Yükselimi bulunan İzmir İç Körfezi'nin; bir basen oluşturarak güncel sedimentlerle dolduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra kuzeyde Karşıyaka Fay Zonu, güneyde İzmir Fay Zonu tarafından sınırlandırılan İzmir İç Körfezi'nde, KD-GB yönlü olarak uzanan doğrultu atımlı bir fay olduğu tespit edilmiş, İç körfez Fayı (İKF) olarak adlandırılmıştır. The Bay of Izmir which is under the influence of both compression tectonics of Pre-Miocene time and the extension tectonics system of Post-Miocene time is made of three sections that are Inner, Middle and Outer Bay. Bathymetric studies, high resolution shallow seismic and side scan sonar methods were applied in order to investigate the active tectonics and recent faults of the Inner Bay of Izmir which is developed under the control of this tectonics. After these studies are finalized, it has been found out that in the Inner Bay which is located between the Seferihisar High and Nif Mountain High, is filled by recent sediments by forming the present basin. Furthermore, it has been identified that there exits a NE-SW oriented strike-slip fault in the Inner Bay of Izmir which is bordered by the Karşıyaka Fault Zone (KFZ) at north, and Izmir Fault Zone (IFZ) at south and is named as Inner Bay Fault (IBF).
