Abstract

Mekanın insanla bütünleşmesi ve insanın mekanı anlamlandırılabilmesi sonucunda ?yer? oluşturulabilmektedir. Kentsel dönüşüm projeleri mekanın yeniden üretimi sürecini gerçekleştirmektedir. Bu anlatı kentsel dönüşüm projeleri ile oluşturulan mekanların, yer oluşturabilmesi için mekansal ve tematik kavramlarının bütünleştirici özellikte olması gereğine dikkat çekmektedir._x000B_Teze konu alan, daha uzun yıllar devam edecek olan kentsel dönüşüm projesine sahne Londra'nın King's Cross bölgesidir. King's Cross Londra'nın merkezine yakın, endüstriyel dönem sonrası atıl kalmış bir bölgedir. Tez önermesi olarak, kentsel dönüşüm projelerinin başarısının değerlendirilmesinde ?yer oluşturma? konusundaki başarı ölçütünün dikkate alınması gereği vurgulanmıştır. Integration of space with people develops accumulation of meanings that occurs place. Urban regeneration projects realize the process of re-production of space. Important point of this narrative is the spaces which are constructed by the urban regeneration projects should integrate both spatial and thematic concepts to be a place._x000B_This study has been conducted over an urban space called King?s Cross, in London where the urban regeneration will continue to take place through the next years. King?s Cross is located next to City of London, and is close to the center of London. The regeneration project is labeled the `biggest project in Europe?. This thesis proposes that success criteria of ?placemaking? should be taken into consideration to evaluate the success of urban regeneration projects.
