Abstract:
It is aimed in this article to analyze and interpret the subject of immortality in Ibn Meymun's philosophy giving some references to both Jewish religious thought and Muslim philosophers, such as Al- Farabi, Ibn Sina and Ibn Bajja. Immortality as treated in metaphysics and natural philosophy signifies intelligible position which is acquired by accomplishment of practical and theoretical perfection. Despite the fact that Ibn Meymun states that resurrection is one of basic Jewish creeds, he philosophically posits that by virtue of conjuction of actual intellect to the Agent Intellect, actual intellect is immortal and keeps its individual identity in the universal intellect and experiences intellectual and spiritual pleasures when it is separated from the body.
