Abstract

"20. Yüzyıl Çağdaş Türk Müziği'nde Viyola Repertuvarı" başlıklı tez konusunun amacı, viyola için yazılmış Türk eserlerinin saptanması, dökümünün yapılması, tanıtılması, besteciler ile yapıtları hakkında yapılan görüşmelerin incelenen nota örnekleri, ses kayıtları ve kaynaklarla desteklenmesi sonucunda, viyola sanatçılarına, eğitimcilere, bestecilere ve öğrencilere yol gösterecek bir kaynak ve nota arşivi oluşturması, dolayısı ile Çağdaş Türk Müziği'ne ve viyola eğitimine katkı sağlanmasıdır. Çağdaş Türk Müziği'ni yurtiçi ve yurtdışında tanıtmak isteyen ve viyolanın diğer yaylı çalgılara oranla daha kısıtlı olan repertuvarı nedeniyle sıkıntı yaşayan yorumcular ve eğitmenler bu çalışma sonucunda viyola repertuvarındaki Türk eserlerini daha yakından tanıma ve repertuvarlarını genişletme fırsatı bulabileceklerdir. Tez çalışmasının ilk aşamasında, viyola için yazılmış olan yapıtlar hakkında bestecilere yönelik sorular içeren bir anket hazırlanmıştır. İçeriğinde 20 soru bulunan bu anket, saptayabildiğimiz viyola eseri bestelemiş 37 Türk Bestecisi'nden 25'ine, karşılıklı yapılan görüşmeler ve yazışmalar aracılığıyla ulaştırılmış, cevaplar değerlendirilmiş, yapıtların notaları toplanmış, bir araya getirilmiş ve seslendirilmesi yapılmış olan yapıtların ses kayıtları toplanmıştır. Ulaşılamayan veya hayatta olmayan besteciler hakkında ise, viyola sanatçıları, eğitimciler, besteciler ve müzik eleştirmenlerinden yardım alınmış, yazılı kaynaklar araştırılarak bilgi toplanmıştır. İkinci aşamada ise yapıtlar, notaları, ses kayıtları ve besteci açıklamaları gözetilerek incelenmiş, kısa besteci özgeçmişleri ve nota örnekleri de eklenerek, yapıtlar hakkında geniş kapsamlı bilgiler verilmiştir. The objective of this thesis, entitled "Repertoire for the Viola in 20th Century Contemporary Turkish Music," is to determine, catalogue, and promote Turkish works written for the viola, and to create a resource guide and a music archive for viola players, educators, composers and students by supporting the interviews conducted with composers on their work with samples of written music, recordings, and other sources that were examined; thereby contributing to Contemporary Turkish Music, and viola education. As a result of these thesis, viola performers and educators who wish to promote Contemporary Turkish Music both nationally and internationally, but experience difficulties in this regard because the repertoire of the viola is less extensive than some other string instruments, will have the opportunity to become better acquainted with Turkish works within the viola repertoire, while also expanding their own. A questionnaire was prepared during the first phase of the thesis; it was geared toward composers and contained questions on musical works written for the viola. The questionnaire consisted of 20 questions. After discussions and correspondence, it was sent to 25 of 37 Turkish Composers who we were able to determine had written music for the viola; their responses were then assessed, the music of the pieces referred to were found and collated, the recordings of those which had been performed were located and gathered. Information on composers that could not be reached or had already passed away was collected with the assistance of viola performers, educators, composers and music critics; written documents were also perused. During the second phase the musical works were examined while keeping in mind the scores, audio recordings, and the explanations the composers had provided; a short biography of each composer and samples of their music was also added, thus providing extensive information on each of the works of music.
