Abstract

II. Dünya Savaşı'ndan sonra ortaya çıkan yeni düzenin bir yansıması olarak Kıbrıslı RumlaradanınYunanistan'ailhakıteziniortayaatmışlardır.YunanhükümetibusüreçteTürk ve İngiliz dostluk ilişkilerinin hassasiyetine rağmen konuyu BM'ye taşımak suretiyle Kıbrıs'ı topraklarına katmak için yoğun diplomatik faaliyetlerde bulunmuştur. Bu çalışmalarla Yunanistan siyasal ve hukuki kazanımlar elde etmek istemiş; ancak BM'deki müzakerelerde uluslararası toplumu tam olarak ikna edememiş ve istediği sonuca ulaşamamıştır. The Greek Cypriots have put forward the idea of the annexation of the island to Greece as a reflection of new order after World War II. Despite the sensitivity of relations of the Turkish and British friendship, Greek government has shown intensive diplomatic activities to include the territory of Cyprus by moving the issue to the UN. Thanks to these studies, the Greek government has aimed to reach a political and legal gains, but the Greek government could not completely persuade the international community and did not reach the desired result in the UN negotiations. Being less number of Turks living on the island, to be deprived of the economic and political entity and Turkey's indifference to Cyprus case because of various reasons have strengthened the hand of the Greeks in the Cyprus Events of 1954.
