Dokuz Eylül University Textile Engineering Department has been organizing the International Technical Textile Congress since 2002 with the aim of creating new opportunities for researchers and companies focused on technical textiles. The 9th edition of the International Technical Textiles Congress (ITTC-9) was held in DEÜ Sabancı Cultural Centre, Izmir, Turkey, on 17th and 18th October 2025, with the participation of scientific and industrial societies. The congress was organized by the representatives of the universities, industries, and civil society organizations. While the Dokuz Eylül University Textile Engineering Department is the main organizer, the Chamber of Textile Engineers, the Association of Universities for Textiles (AUTEX), and the Balkan Society of Textile Engineers (BASTE) are the partners of the congress. Over the past two decades, the International Technical Textiles Congress has evolved into a significant scientific and industrial platform where academia, researchers, and professionals gather to exchange ideas, share research, and strengthen collaboration in the ever-growing field of technical textiles. Today, technical textiles stand at the intersection of material science, engineering, and design. They play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions that enhance daily life -from medical and protective applications to smart fabrics, composites, transportation, filtration, and sustainable technologies. Their versatility and contribution to sustainability, safety, and technological advancement make them one of the most dynamic and future-oriented areas of the textile industry. We express our sincere appreciation to the Organising, Scientific, and Advisory Committees, whose devoted efforts have ensured the success of this congress. Their commitment has created a truly international forum where knowledge meets innovation. We are also deeply grateful to our supporting institutions, including the Chamber of Textile Engineers, The Association of Universities for Textiles, the Balkan Society of Textile Engineers, and other valuable partners, for their cooperation and contribution. Our heartfelt thanks are extended to our sponsors and supporters, whose generosity has made this event possible and accessible to participants from around the world. (Aygenteks, Sun Tekstil, Ekoten, Halmer Tekstil, Ağaoğlu Tekstil, Denge Kimya, Solidian-Kelteks, TÜBİTAK, Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association and Apparel Exporters' Associations) We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Rector of Dokuz Eylül University and to the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for their continuous support, encouragement, and contributions to this congress. Their vision and guidance have played a vital role in strengthening the academic excellence and international recognition of this event. A special acknowledgement also goes to the Faculty of Textile Engineering at Dokuz Eylül University, whose tireless efforts in organisation, academic coordination, and scientific contribution have been instrumental to the ongoing success of the ITTC series. Finally, we sincerely thank all authors, speakers, and participants for their valuable input, inspiring discussions, and the exchange of ideas that continue to shape the field of technical textiles. May this ninth edition of the International Technical Textiles Congress reinforce the bridge between science and industry, foster innovation and collaboration, and contribute to a more sustainable and technologically advanced future for the global textile community. |
